today i read
a favorite verse from
the Book of Genesis
“then the Lord God
called to the man
and said to him
‘where are you'”
the serpent has succeeded
in deceiving Adam and Eve
and so, they went hiding
in their naked shame
the Lord who knows
every single thing they did
still asked them
where they were
the Lord who knows
every single thing we do
is still asking us
where we are
this isn’t about
our exact location
this is about
the exact condition
of our hearts
our guilt would
make us hide
and be satisfied
in darkness
it creeps and
eats us up whole
God calls us
for a conversation
a gracious invite for us
to step in to the light
a warm embrace
of undeserved love
waiting for us
to come home
